We kicked off the 2006 season at I55 Raceway on Saturday June 10th.
With a pill draw of 41 and a field of 28 UMP/AARA Sportsman I started 5th of the Third Heat race. For the first time on the track the car felt pretty good and we were able to bring home a 3rd place finish. That finish, with passign points, put us into the Trophy Dash, where we started 8th out of 9 cars. Again car was not bad and we moved up to the 6th spot. As the car started to run hot we found a few issues and unfortunately we were not able to fix them at the track. As we started 6th in the 24 car Feature we new that unless it went green to checkered we had a chance of over heating the motor an with it being the first night on the track we were not going to take any chances. After several yellows early in the race we went to lap 12 before the yellow came out again, with the motor heating up we decided to call it a night and pulled off to finish the night in 16th.
We will have everything fixed before this weekend and try to improve our finishes. |
